SAMPE 2014 Seattle

Will be in Seattle during the first week of June to attend the SAMPE conference.
This year the conference agenda departs from previous years’ content. While the advanced textiles and their engineering modeling are given a lot of coverage along with DARPA’s Trust program, usual heavy weights such as technologies related to automation and robotics, more specifically Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), are on the lean side. Yet the technical program includes considerable content on thermoplastics; both aerospace and automotive. It should make for an exciting conference. ALA Group’s main focus will be on textiles, the Trust program and NASA’s 5.5 M Composite Cryotank
Program.

@JEC Europe 2012

Just arrived in Paris today (Monday, March 26) and getting ready for the JEC show.
Primary focus will be on automation, especially Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and compression molded parts fabrication processes.

Will also be frequenting the booths of the companies specializing in thermoplastics fabrication and looking for resin applications other than PPS, PEEK and PEI.

Last but not least, very excited about the new automated NDI project coming out of EADS Innovation Works called LUCIE. I saw posters about this project during a visit to the Nantes Technocampus back in September 2011. Hopefully Hubert Voillaume and Franck Bentouhami of EADS will provide much insight into this new capability along with its production readiness level assessment.
